No! Our course and single lessons are designed for complete beginners all the way through to intermediate DJs who want to level up. We can also tailor individual lessons to focus on exactly what you want to learn. Some examples include: Learning how to mix on vinyl Improving your use of effects Troubleshooting issues when playing gigs Setting up DJ equipment correctly Rekordbox organisation/settings Sourcing music online …and much more.

You don’t need to own any gear to start. All lessons are taught on industry-standard Pioneer DJ equipment. If you do have your own controller, we can tailor lessons to match your setup. If you need advise on what to purchase, we can assist with that too when you come in for your first lesson.

We offer a 6-lesson DJ course, with each lesson running for 90 minutes (usually taken weekly). The course is designed to take you from zero experience to being able to play a cohesive DJ set. The full course cost is $750. All of our lessons are taught one-on-one, and both our course and single sessions can be tailored to any level — whether you’re just starting out or already have some experience. If you’d prefer not to commit to the full course, you can also book individual lessons at $150 per 90-minute session. We currently run lessons out of our two studios in Redfern and Woolloomooloo, taught by our experienced instructors Jateen & Barbuto. Our core course is 6 lessons, each 90 minutes long. Most students attend weekly, but we can work around your schedule subject to our availability.

Lessons are 90 minutes of hands-on practice. We don’t include separate studio practice time in our course, many students use their own gear at home between lessons. Usually students would aquire a controller to practice in their own time between lessons, then come in for extra unsupervised studio sessions ($75 for 90 min), when they land a gig and would like to practice on industry standard club gear.

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to confidently mix a full set, understand cueing, beatmatching, transitions, EQing, FX, and how to prepare music for gigs.

We typically operate Tuesday to Saturday, 11am – 7:30pm, subject to availability. However the Redfern studio does occational Mondays and earlier slots.

We encourage all students to play at open-deck nights. We maintain an up-to-date list of bars and clubs that host beginner-friendly open decks, where you can jump on for a 30-minute set and get comfortable playing in front of people. We also run occasional Student Showcase Nights, where graduates perform sets in a supportive, community-focused environment. From there, it’s completely up to each student how far they’d like to take things, whether that’s pursuing paid gigs, reaching out to bookers, or connecting with agencies when they feel ready.

We welcome students from 10 years old and up. There’s no upper age limit — anyone with a passion for music can learn to DJ with us. (Minors to be accompanied by a parent or guardian)
