OnCue Learn To DJ Course
Embark on your DJing journey with our exclusive 6-lesson package at On Cue DJ School. Led by experienced instructors, Jateen and Barbuto, this course offers a comprehensive blend of foundational and advanced skills. The first 3 lessons cover essential topics such as equipment, music selection, and basic mixing, while the final 3 lessons focus on advanced mixing techniques, crowd reading, and creating a signature style. Our post-graduate options include open practice sessions, back-to-back play with instructors, and personalized career mentorship. To enhance the learning experience, students will attend the first 3 lessons at either our Woolloomooloo or Redfern studio, based on availability at the time of booking. For the final 3 lessons, they will switch to the other studio. This structure allows students to benefit from playing on two industry-standard setups, gain experience in different environments, and learn from both instructors. By hearing concepts explained in different ways and practicing on varied equipment, students develop a deeper understanding and greater confidence in their skills.
Module One
Introduction to DJing, types of equipment, equipment knowledge, understanding phrasing.
Module Two
Introduction to Rekordbox, sourcing music, creating playlists, organization, basic mixing/beatmatching.
Module Three
Mixing with EQ, bass swapping, initializing the decks for play/beat grid correction, utilizing basic effects/echo effect.
Module Four
Advanced Mixing Techniques, mixing by ear, equipment knowledge/connecting equipment, troubleshooting, soundcheck, cable routing, inputs & outputs.
Module Five
Crowd reading, building a set, Creating Smooth Transitions, combination effects, utilizing filters, EQ, mixing in key, beat jumping to phrase.
Module Six
Advanced Rekordbox/ setting cues and visual markers, Club/Party Play Rehearsal Set, assessment, creating a signature sound and style, planning for the future.
